IOWA CITY — Iowa football has lost its quarterback commit in the 2026 recruiting class.
Three-star quarterback prospect Cash Herrera is reopening his recruitment, he announced Monday on social media.
The prospect from the San Diego area initially committed to Iowa in October over scholarship offers from UCLA, Minnesota, San Diego State and others.
He also announced offers from California and Arizona in May while remaining committed to Iowa. At the same time, the Hawkeyes have not shied away from seeking a second quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class.
Herrera’s change in status comes ahead of Iowa’s big official visit weekend for 2026 prospects. He was among the many prospects scheduled to visit Iowa City.
The Hawkeyes now have nine commitments in the 2026 class. On3 ranks the class 33rd nationally and 12th in the Big Ten. 247 Sports ranks the class 48th nationally and 16th in the Big Ten.
