Karen K. Keegan, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and formerly of Winthrop, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, June 9, 2025, at Keystone Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids.
Graveside Service: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Winthrop, Iowa with Rev. David Beckman officiating.
Final Resting Place: St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Winthrop, Iowa.

Karen Kay Keegan was born March 15, 1945, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence Dale and Dorothy Maxine (Gaffney) Keegan. She was baptized at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and raised in Winthrop. Karen graduated from East Buchanan High School in the class of 1963. Karen continued her education at Young Cosmetology School in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed her career as a hairstylist at Cedar Rapids for nearly 40 years and valued getting to know the community through her many clients.
Karen enjoyed her grandchildren, who loved and valued her time and attention.
Karen loved her close circle of friends, who supported each other throughout their lives, and cared for and spent time with Karen to the end.
Karen is survived by her daughter: Stacey Foster (Adam Peterson) of Durango, Colorado;
2 grandsons: Quinn Peterson and Kael Peterson; and a brother: James Keegan of Cedar Rapids.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister-in-law: Barbara Keegan.
