I’ve lived at the Haven Park manufactured home court for years, and in just the past four years, I’ve watched prices jump an astounding 53%. This exorbitant price increase has put a significant strain on the financial well-being of many right here in Iowa City. Like so many others, I’ve had to make do with less, stretching every dollar just to keep up.
And now, we risk Washington letting the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expire-meaning even more financial strain for folks who are already struggling. Congress needs to step up and extend the TCJA before everyday Americans are forced to bear the weight of what would be the largest tax hike in American history.
The government does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem-let’s not let them get away with more waste, abuse, and theft.
I thank my Congresswoman, Mariannette Miller-Meeks, for voting it out of the House, and I urge Senators Grassley and Ernst to do their part in getting it through the Senate.
