Xavier has outscored its first eight opponents, all from the Mississippi Valley Conference, by an 81-12 margin, heading into its MVC doubleheader tonight at Waterloo West.
Pleasant Valley is the new No. 1 in 5A, moving up two spots after a 5-0 opening week. Waukee Northwest slides one spot to No. 2.
Xavier is followed by North Polk in 4A, and those two teams collide June 13 at the Xavier Classic. The Comets (6-1) were the preseason No. 1.
