Rebecca “Becky” Anne Kaefring, 74, of Martelle, Iowa, passed away at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness on Friday, May 16, 2025.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2025, Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, Iowa. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 24, 2025, with visitation one hour prior at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon.
Becky was born on February 24, 1951, the daughter of Edward and Mary B. (Klima) Swenka. She was raised on the family farm in Oxford, Iowa, and graduated from Clear Creek Community High School in 1969.
She married Robert Kaefring on April 11, 1970, in Oxford. After their marriage, she and Robert lived and raised their children in various places, including Oxford, North Liberty, Iowa, Saginaw, Michigan, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, although she made life-long friends everywhere.
Becky was an adventurer at heart as illustrated by the various occupations she held throughout her life, including a waitress at a local cone shoppe in North Liberty, a Mary Kay consultant, a Postal Worker, and a Million Dollar Real Estate Agent. Her proudest contribution was that of a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Becky had many hobbies through the years, including crocheting, sewing, and baking. She loved to make handmade cookies and candies at Christmas to share and be enjoyed by all. She cherished spending time visiting with her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed luncheons and the companionship she shared with her sisters, Carol, Gloria, and Linda, at a local café.
Becky is survived by her husband, Robert, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage; children, Tina Kohl, of Anamosa, Iowa, Roseanne (Dennis) Ricke, of Lisbon, Iowa, Dustin Kaefring, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Amanda Kaefring, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Kyler Kaefring, of Martelle; grandchildren, Zane & Adam Kohl, Austin (Alayna) Quade, Brynn Hanson, Keegan Karg, Nathan Ricke, Christopher and Adalyn Ricke; as well as five great-grandchildren.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary (Klima) Swenka, and her brothers, Keever, Dennis, Chuck, and Glenn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, in care of Robert Kaefering.
