Jeremy Jonathan Hynek, 50, of Fairfax, IA passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025 surrounded by loving family, at home following his battle with cancer.
Celebration of life will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025 at the Fairfax American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
Privet family inurnment was at St. Patrick Cemetery, Fairfax, IA.
Jeremy was born May 26, 1974 in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of Steve Larry and Katrena Marie (Glass) Hynek. He was raised on the family’s century farm in rural Fairfax. He graduated from Prairie High School with the Class of 1993. Following school, Jeremy worked for Apache Hose, and DW Products before beginning Hynek Lawn Care. For 23 years Jeremy perfected his skill in lawn care showing his artistic talent in each lawn.
Jeremy was a proud father of two young men, Dalton and Davin. He was kind and outgoing, known for helping with Fairfax’s USA days. Jeremy had many hobbies and talents, from cheering on the Detroit Lions
to riding his side by side, hunting, building Lego cars and drawing. He enjoyed wearing a good flannel shirt, his cowboy hat and listening to Cole Swindell music. Jeremy was a fitness enthusiast, and would often be found riding his bicycle.
Being six years sober of alcohol and tobacco, Jeremy was a proud member of the Cedar Rapids Gratitude Club, he would often visit AA groups to help others and share his story. After being diagnosed with melanoma, Jeremy was able to find support through attending Veritas Church in Cedar Rapids along with his cancer support group.
Jeremy is survived by his son, Dalton (Kaylee) Hynek; one grandson on the way of Cedar Rapids; son, Davin Hynek of Fairfax; parents, Steve and Katrena Hynek of Fairfax; brother, Keith (Liz) Hynek of Iowa City; cousin, Jennifer Watson; nephews and nieces, Tyler, Gage, Austin, Mitchell, Lauryn, Maya, Caleb, Ryan and many more loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and sister, Karena J. Hynek.
