Evelyn Wilkinson
Evelyn Wilkinson
Marion
Evelyn Emma (Shaull) Wilkinson went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2025 after suffering a stroke. She lived all of her life in Iowa except the last 5 years when she resided in Tennessee.
Evelyn was born February 8, 1925 to Raymond and Louise Shaull of Keswick. When she graduated from High School, she attended Normal School and became a school teacher. She moved to Springville to teach and met the love of her life, Wayne Wilkinson. They were married December 28, 1947 and spent 56 wonderful years together. She spent several years as a farmer's wife and busy mother.
During her years on the farm, she was faithful at Noelridge Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. Whenever possible she would host missionaries and visiting speakers of the church in her home. She hosted Children's Bible Clubs and Ladies' Bible Studies in her home on a regular basis. She taught Sunday School and loved to sing praises to the Lord with her wonderful soprano voice.
In 1969, she and Wayne left the farm and purchased acreage in Central City. They spent many happy years traveling enjoying wonderful adventures. During this time, Evelyn was a rural mail carrier which provided adventures as well. After Wayne died in 2003, Evelyn moved to Village Place in Marion. She participated in many activities such as "We Three" (a singing group), Bell Choir and going to a local nursing home to sing hymns to the "old folks" - she was 88! Her church family at Squaw Creek Baptist Church was a huge part of her life as well.
In 2020 Evelyn moved to Harrison, TN to live with her daughter, Sharon Daugherty. She made many new friends and continued her lifelong commitment of remembering those she knew and loved by sending cards and continued this until her death.
Evelyn is survived by her four children: Sharon (Dan) Daugherty, Harrison, TN; Patricia (Murray) Miller, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canda; Larry (Helen) Wilkinson, Apache Junction, AZ; Judy (Del) Devers, Colville, WA; 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Cadwallader, brother Milford Shaull, husband Wayne Wilkinson and grandson Ernest Miller.
Services will be held at Creekside Bible Church, Marion, on May 12 at 11:00 a.m. and burial at Jordan's Grove Cemetery in Central City.
Evelyn will be sorely missed by all those who knew her but is at home in peace with her loving Heavenly Father.
