CEDAR RAPIDS — A Cedar Rapids man was arrested Wednesday on a charge of prostitution after police say he contacted on online account that actually was run by officers.
James Gbetilgbo, 35, contacted a spoof profile online April 24 and was told the person running the profile was 15 years old. He acknowledged the fake profile’s age, and agreed to pay $150 for sex, according to a criminal complaint.
He arranged to meet up with the supposed teen and instead was confronted by police, who checked his phone with a warrant and discovered he also had been talking with other profiles of people offering sex for money.
A warrant was issued for Gbetilgbo’s arrest May 1, and he was arrested Wednesday. He was released from custody after posting a $3,000 bail.
