IOWA CITY — Iowa football has picked up a commitment from former Purdue defensive back Ty Hudkins via the transfer portal, he announced Tuesday on social media.
Hudkins appeared in 12 games as a true freshman in 2024 although it was mostly on special teams. His only tackle was in Purdue’s season opener against Indiana State.
He has three seasons of eligibility remaining. The former three-star recruit had offers out of high school from Northwestern, Minnesota, Tulane and others before committing to the Boilermakers.
Tuesday’s news marks the second portal addition for Iowa’s secondary in the spring transfer window. The Hawkeyes also added former South Dakota defensive back Shahid Barros. The secondary must replace three multiyear starters — cornerback Jermari Harris and safeties Sebastian Castro and Quinn Schulte — in 2025.
The Hawkeyes also added former Wake Forest quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski, former Ferris State offensive lineman Bryce George and former Boston College long snapper Bryant Worrell in the spring portal window.
