Eloise “Ellie” Lehrman-Wood, 99, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by her family. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha, Iowa. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Ellie was born on January 31, 1926, in Stanwood, Iowa, to Herman and Anna (Luedeman) Lehrman. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Stanwood. On September 14, 1946, she married Charles F. Wood in her hometown. Ellie worked at Quaker Oats for more than 20 years, retiring in 1989. A woman of faith and community, she was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha and active in both the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary. Ellie had a truly boundless love for her family and community. Her unmatched zest for life filled every moment of her long, incredible life with love, connection, and shared joy.
Survivors include her children, Rick (Mary) Wood, Warren (Tami) Wood, Gary (Joni) Wood, Brett (Mina) Wood, all of Cedar Rapids, and Lori Wood of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Zach (Laura), Elijah (Mette-Marie), Jacob (Casey), Jered (Sadie), and Hannah (Johnnie); four great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, David Wood of Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Wood; parents, Herman and Anna Lehrman; brothers, Erwin, Louis, Merle and Fredrick Lehrman; and sister, Pauline Lehrman.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be established in Ellie’s honor.
