Carol J. Glandon, age 96, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, on Friday, April 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Carol was born on November 18, 1928, in Burlington, IA. She was the daughter of the late John Richard and Laura Caroline (Scholl) Rasche and raised by a large, gregarious family in Burlington, IA. She graduated from Elmhurst College in Chicago, and returned to Burlington where she worked as a children’s librarian. She was introduced to her future husband Adrian by her friend Marge, who was married to Adrian’s brother.
On June 28, 1958, Carol married the love of her life, Adrian Glandon. She was an active volunteer in the Cedar Rapids community, volunteering with the
Girl Scouts and Seminole Valley Farms. In her spare time, she was involved in the fiber arts, including knitting, quilting, and weaving. She loved to cook, go out to eat, and shop and make mischief with her good friend Donna Koch. Her weekly Pilates classes and the friendships she made in them were an important part of her life up until her passing.
Those left to cherish Carol’s memory are her children, Beth (Lisa) Glandon, of Denver, CO, David (Buffey) Glandon, of Cedar Rapids, and Sarah (Tom) Stephenson; her grandchildren, Colin (Freya) Glandon, of Cedar Rapids, Cooper (Kamrie) Stephenson, and Parker Stephenson; her great-grandchildren, Arwen and Marion. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Adrian, and a daughter, Robin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity of one’s choice.
