But advocates fear as the pandemic program winds down, evictions could start rising again

Linn County has allocated all its emergency rental assistance funding, though additional aid may come in the spring. Those seeking assistance must apply through the state’s program.

Because of limited remaining funds, only new applicants will be accepted for the Linn County Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Households who have already received assistance from this program will no longer be eligible.

More than 1,000 Linn County households have been helped with rental assistance over the last four months.

DES MOINES – State officials said Friday they’ve caught up with applications for rental and utility assistance and are now working on making sure Iowans know the federal help is available.
