DES MOINES (AP) — The prize in Saturday’s Powerball drawing is $700 million, which ranks as the 10th-largest jackpot in U.S. history.

Since someone won the prize on Aug. 3, there have been 40 drawings without a winner. That matches a record for draws without a winner, along with a run of drawings last year, according to the Clive, Iowa-based Multi-State Lottery Association.

Saturday night's will be the 40th consecutive drawing. The longest previous run was in 2021, when it took 41 drawings before someone clinched a $699.8 million jackpot.
