Tom L. Chittick, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with lung cancer on Monday, April 14, 2025. Services will be held at St. John XXIII Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025. Friends may visit with the family before the service from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry at a later date. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Ingram-Chittick; sons: Jeff (Holly) Chittick of Marion, Jay Chittick of Millersville PA, Brian Ingram (Amy) of Iowa City, daughter: Shelley Dunn of Cedar Rapids, 11 grandchildren: Greg Chittick, Jenna (Chris) Ackman, Taylor (Stephanie) Chittick, Dane Chittick, McKenna Crumbaugh, Quinn Dunn, Jordan Ingram, Alexa Aldrich-Ingram, Cecilia Aldrich-Ingram, Sage Ingram, Cade Ingram. great-grandchildren: Bruce, Bennet, and Hayden.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Lester Chittick, and sister, Ann Malina.
Tom was born on June 27, 1944 in South English, the son of Lester and Helen Jean Evans Chittick. He graduated from English Valley High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army as a Sgt. and was discharged in 1967. He worked at Collins Radio and Skogman Homes prior to working at General Mills for 32 years.
Tom was united in marriage to Mary Knosby Ingram on March 30, 1985 in Perry.
Tom loved fishing, birdwatching, being outdoors, walking, coffee time with friends and visits to McGregor. He was a friend to all and enjoyed talking to everyone. If you met Tom, you would like him. If you knew Tom, you would love him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy or to the American Cancer Society of Eastern Iowa.
