One dead after Cedar County crash

One person died Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 30 between Clarence and Lowden in Cedar County.
According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu was turning left onto Taylor Avenue from eastbound Highway 30 when a semi-trailer truck hit it from behind.
The Chevy ended up in the southeast ditch, and the semi stopped in the eastbound shoulder of the road. The driver of the Chevy, identified as Loretta J. Frana, 59, from Lowden, was killed in the crash.
The driver of the truck — Adam Wiese, 27, of Lowden — was not injured, according to the crash report.
The report did not say whether the crash still was under investigation.
