Cobble Hill, DeLuxe Bakery owners set to appear on ‘The Splendid Table’

SOLON — Two eateries in the Corridor will soon be represented at a filming of ’The Splendid Table’ with Francis Lam.
Cobble Hill owners Andy and Carrie Schumacher from Cedar Rapids and DeLuxe Bakery owner Jamie Powers from Iowa City will share insights into cooking, baking, sustainability and the vibrant food culture of Iowa at the event in front of a live audience on May 1 at Celebration Barn in Solon.
The show, produced and distributed by American Public Media, has earned nods from numerous top podcast lists, including being named an outstanding food podcast by New York Magazine, the Huffington Post, Oprah Magazine and CNN.
The show recording will be part of a nationwide tour of six cities celebrating the culinary, culture and lifestyle program’s 30th anniversary. It has won two James Beard Foundation awards for Best National Radio Show on Food, among several other awards.
