The Clear Creek Amana school board has announced three finalists in its search for the district’s next superintendent.
The search began after the board accepted the resignation of Corey Seymour on Feb. 26. Seymour had been superintendent of the district since 2022.
Denise Shares has been serving as interim superintendent since Feb. 20, when Seymour went on personal leave. Shares will serve until a new superintendent is named. District leaders said they hope to have a new superintendent in place by July 1.
The search has been led by Grundmeyer Leader Services.
The finalists, announced last week, are Aaron Davidson, Josh Lyons, and Nathan Wear.
Davidson is executive director of educational services in the Fort Dodge Community School District. According to a news release, he has experience leading data-driven professional development and applying research-based instructional strategies in the K-12 environment.
Prior to his current role, Davidson was a middle school principal in Fort Dodge, as well as a PK-6th grade principal in the Pocahontas school district. Earlier in his career, he was a health, social studies and science teacher. He also has experience as a baseball, basketball, and football coach.
Lyons is associate superintendent of the Solon school district. There, he has worked to align financial resources with district goals and instructional needs, while working with the school board to identify district financial and facility priorities, according to a news release. He has also led efforts to expand career and technical education opportunities for students and led efforts to improve systems to support student wellness in the district.
Lyons previously served as a regional administrator for the Grant Wood Area Education Agency, and has experience as a school principal. He began his career in education as an elementary teacher in Dunkerton.
Wear is associate superintendent and chief academic officer for Linn-Mar school district. In that role, he collaborates with and evaluates building principals and three curriculum directors, according to a news release. He also works closely with the directors of teaching and learning to plan professional development, and assists the superintendent with daily operations of the district.
Previously, Wear was the principal of Solon High School and the principal of Pence Elementary School in Fairfield. He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa and Viterbo University.
The board and stakeholders will interview the finalists Tuesday. A final decision is expected to be reached soon after the formal interviews.
