Drake Relays (Friday boys): Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Jackson Johannes came from the inside rail to shock the field in the boys’ 400-meter dash.

Moustafa Tiea opened the running portion of the Forwald-Coleman Relays with a record-setting relay anchor, and he closed it with an improbable comeback in the finale. He did plenty in between, too.

Iowa City West won four relay titles — 4x100, 4x200, distance medley and shuttle hurdle — on its way to a Class 4A fifth-place team finish at the state meet last year. Of the 62 points that West accumulated at state last year, 48 1/4 are back for 2024.

Cross country: Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s pack is more than enough at the Eastern Iowa Classic.

Drake Relays, Friday boys: Cedar Rapids Washington’s Miles Thompson and Michael Blank sprinted to a 1-2 sweep in the 100.

Boys’ track and field: Moustafa Tiea’s come-from-behind 1:53 split triggers Iowa City West’s 4x800; Cedar Rapids Kennedy, Cedar Rapids Prairie share the title at the John Ask Relays.
