SAVE Act is a Trojan Horse

Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks’ SAVE Act is a flagrant assault on democracy. Only 0.00004% of all ballots cast in the 2024 presidential election were undocumented immigrants. On the other hand, 16% seniors, 25% Black, 15% Hispanic and 15% low-income voters could lack some form of photo ID. The law would also disproportionately burden women; it imposes confusing requirements for those whose legal name does not match their birth certificates. As demographics, both women and minorities lean Democratic. Creating roadblocks for minorities and women to vote improve her odds of winning — and she knows it.
Supporting the government's invasion of the doctor's office and a woman's right to choose was just the beginning. Miller-Meeks is now coming after women's ability to vote. The fact is, undocumented immigrants are not voting, but if this law passes, a whole lot of seniors, minorities, and women won’t be either. Her strategy to perpetuate a false narrative that convinces voters she is protecting them from an imaginary enemy is nothing more than a Trojan Horse to shore up some votes while preventing citizens from voting against her. Miller-Meeks talks a lot about how this bill will secure democracy, but it’s about securing her seat.
