IOWA CITY — NutriSport & Smoothie is expanding soon to Iowa City.
The Marion smoothie shop and supplement store on Blairs Ferry Road will soon have a second location at 201 S. Clinton St., next to Raising Cane’s at the Old Capitol Town Center. The new location, scheduled to open toward the end of April, will offer the same nutritious menu of smoothies, wraps, ready-made healthy meals and supplements for those with busy lives.
The expansion is the first for owners Julie and Anthony Carfagna, who have owned the Marion location since 2022. NutriSport has been open there since 2012.
“Many people from Solon, North Liberty, Iowa City and Coralville frequently visit our original NutriSport & Smoothie location in Marion. Expanding south to Iowa City will help us better serve our customers,” said co-owner Anthony Carfagna. “This location provides a great opportunity to reach more of our health and fitness-focused community with its proximity to the University of Iowa campus and the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.”
The new location will feature indoor and outdoor seating, a “grab-and-go” section with quick but nutritious options like protein balls and snack bars, and a wide selection of supplements for health and athletic performance.
“Our goal for the Iowa City location is to provide quick, healthy food options for people on the move,” said co-owner Julie Carfagna. “Whether you’re a student, faculty member or local resident, we’re here to make healthy eating simple and accessible. We look forward to being a part of this vibrant community.”
The expansion will rebuild the NutriSport brand again in the Corridor. Other Cedar Rapids locations, which were owned separately in downtown and on Edgewood Road NW, rebranded last year as Stack Wellness Cafe.
