John Dale Decker, 72, of Coralville, IA, died Friday, April 4, 2025. Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Lensing’s Oak Hill, 210 Holiday Road, Coralville, IA. A funeral will be held at 11 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John Decker Memorial Fund. Please come dressed in your favorite sports attire.
John was born on November 5, 1952, in Mattoon, IL, the son of John and Ruth (Handley) Decker. He graduated from West Branch High School in 1972. John was a custodian for the VA Hospital for over twenty years, retiring in 2022. He was married to Sherrie Decker, they later divorced. John loved Iowa Hawkeye sports, especially wrestling. He loved to root for the Cubs, fishing, and going to the casino.
John is survived by his two children, Nolan (Kimberly) Decker of North English, and Heath Decker of Coralville; three siblings, Lonnie Decker of Coralville, Trudy Decker of Russel Springs, KY, and Keith Decker of Clinton, IA; ex-wife, Sherrie Decker of Coralville; five grandchildren, Dillon Decker, Tristan Decker and Ambrashia Chrzan of North English, David Chrzan of Riverside, IA and Rebecca Kidwell of Coralville; five great-grandchildren, Neveah, Pierce, Elijah, Savannha, and Payton.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill and infant brother; and infant great-granddaughter, Avery.
