James "Jim" Iverson, a man of unwavering faith, deep generosity, and love, passed peacefully on Thursday April 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer and congestive heart failure. Born on November 16, 1937, in Waterloo, Jim lived a life full of purpose, passion, and dedication to his family, his faith, and his many pursuits.
An engineer in the Air Force and a graduate of the American College, Jim built a successful career at Rockwell Collins before founding his own insurance and investment business, FS Consultants, in 1970. His heart, however, was always in teaching—especially when it came to Christian finances and discipleship. He devoted himself to ensuring others were "adequately equipped for every good work," living out his faith with steadfast conviction.
In 1962, Jim married the love of his life, Shirley. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories, residing in the same house for over five decades before moving to Iowa City in 2023. He cherished his time restoring sports cars—especially Triumphs and SAABs—and found joy in biking, golfing, and simply being with his family.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; his son, Jay (Darla); his daughter, Kami (Jayme); 8 grandchildren—Shelby (Tythe), Hunter (Danyelle), Tanner (Taitlyn), Bella, Lexi, Taylor (Tom), Morgan (Billy), Cassidy (Jacob) —as well as three great-grandchildren and three more on the way to join the family; and a brother, Steve (Maryann). His legacy of love, wisdom, and faith will continue to shine through those he leaves behind.
Jim's family will honor his wishes with a private graveside service. Though he will be missed dearly, his life stands as a testament to his generosity, unwavering faith, and the immeasurable love he shared. His influence will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
