Ted “Teddy” Williams April 16, 1933 - March 26, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ted “Teddy” Williams, 91, of Marion, Iowa, who passed away from an extended illness
on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kari, who served as his devoted caregiver and held his hand as he passed. Ted peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus, escorting him to his eternal resting place.
Teddy was born at home in a Coal miners cabin in Pershing, Iowa, to William and Mable Williams on April 16, 1933. Ted was proud of his educational achievements.
After returning from serving in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict, Ted enrolled in the Iowa Board of Barbering College in Des Moines, Iowa. Ted was a Barber for 53 years, 40 years at the Hiawatha Barber Shop, retiring in 2008.
Ted was always a jokester and had a famous saying: “After 53 years of Barbering I had to retire because... It just got too hairy!”
Ted is now reunited with the love of his life, Alice. They celebrated 62 years of marriage before her passing.
Ted is survived by his daughter, Kari (Tim) Shetterly, sons, Scot (Gayleen) and Teddy Jr. (Jane); 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren;
a sister Leticia (Dean) Shore. Ted was preceded in death by his wife, parents; two brothers and one sister.
Ted a strong believer in Christ, read daily devotion and the Bible.
He was a warm kind hearted man who lived life to the fullest especially spending time with family. Traveling became a memorable past time for him in later years. He travelled to Hawaii, and took multiple trips to Mississippi, Florida and Minnesota creating grand memories. Of course Ted had an unwavering love for Dessert and Sweet Treats any where he visited. This became the family joke. Ted’s high points in life included the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. A trip to Washington, D.C. viewing the Korean War memorial and celebrating with all veterans on this special day.
A celebration of Life service will begin at 1 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at King of King’s Lutheran Church.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to join us for a Sweet Treat Buffet reception.

Interment will take place in June at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Adel, Iowa, honoring Ted’s military service and his love for his country.
