It's been a dozen years since Amy Grant released a proper album.
"How Mercy Looks From Here," released in 2013, is her last studio album that is comprised of original, non-holiday songs. But Grant is finally working on a new release, which the long-time entertainer hopes will drop in September.
"I haven't had any new music out in such a long time," Grant said while calling from her Nashville home. "But I'm focusing on songs right now. I'm excited about the new songs . ..I know nobody is holding their breath for my new album, but I'm so happy about what I'm working on."
Grant's fresh material has inspired her to alter her set. "What I'm doing on the road this time is much different than what I played in 2024," Grant said. "I'm feeling change, which is a good thing. I got into a rut doing the same songs."
Expect Grant, 64, who will perform Tuesday at the Paramount Theatre, to dust off some tunes she hasn't played in awhile and to alter arrangements. "I'm looking forward to having a different approach with my songs," Grant said.

It's quite a contrast from her husband Vince Gill's gig with The Eagles. Gill breathed new life into the iconic band after he joined the group after the passing of Eagles singer-songwriter Glenn Frey in 2016.
"With the Eagles, they have to play the songs exactly how they were recorded," Grant said. "That's the way it is in that band, and I'm so glad that Vince is enjoying the experience, but I'm doing my own thing. This year we're picking 24 songs for the tour, and I have to wrap my head around what exactly we're doing."
It's not easy for the charismatic contemporary Christian artist to put a set together. Grant, who has sold more than 30 million albums, has enjoyed an enviable career. The six-time Grammy Award winner, who also has garnered 22 Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, was the first Christian recording artist to reach platinum status.
Grant crossed over in 1991 to the pop charts with her best-selling album, "Heart in Motion." "Baby Baby," "That's What Love Is For," "Every Heartbeat" and "Good for Me" are some of Grant's tunes, which reached Billboard's top ten pop charts.
"It's been an incredible career," Grant said. "I couldn't be more thankful that I have so many songs that I can draw from."
There's nothing Grant enjoys more than performing live since she enjoys engaging the audience. "Going up onstage is natural for me since I'm a connector," Grant said. "I'm made up of all of this connective tissue. I like bringing people together. If I can take people away from the noise of the world for two hours and enter this space where they can enjoy these old songs that remind them of the best parts of who they were, well, then I'm doing my job."
