Matthew Troy Brosh, beloved son, brother, uncle, and dedicated military veteran, passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 49. He was born on July 28, 1975, in Cedar Rapids to Terry & Virginia (Gini). Matt proudly served in the Army, where he exemplified courage, commitment, and brotherhood. He was a Mountaineer with the 10th Mountain Division based out of Fort Drum, New York. His dedication to his country was matched only by his love for his family and friends. A devoted family member, Matt was a cherished son to Terry and Gini, loved stepson to Christine, Sue and Darryl, a dedicated brother to Justin, and a fun-loving uncle to Austin, Ashton, Brooks, Cameron, and Tristan. He had a unique ability to connect with everyone around him, always ready with a joke or a listening ear.
Beyond his military service, Matt had a passion for surfing, fitness, and fishing. His kindness, humor, and generosity made a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Matt is preceded in death by his father Terry, stepfather Darryl Wernimont, and Uncle Emory Lear.
He is survived by his mother Gini Wernimont of Jacksonville, Florida; brother Justin Brosh (Tiffany) of Pinellas Park, Florida; Uncle Winston Lear (Linda) stepmothers Christine Brosh and Sue Scott; committed partner Kristen Smith; nephews Austin (Hannah), Ashton (Julianna), Brooks, Cameron, Tristan; and great nieces Oakley, Colbie, Breeze, and Charlotte.
