Born in Ottumwa, Iowa on June 4, 1951, Micheal was the son of Edward and Gretta Nydle. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1969 and received his pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa. Michael married his college sweetheart Nancy Van Thournout on June 7, 1975. He was a proud grandfather to Ainsley, Avery, and Rucker.
