Keota woman killed in Washington County crash

A Keota woman died Thursday in a crash on Highway 1 in Washington County, according to a report from the Iowa State Patrol.
Alaina McNurlen, 18, was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion north on Highway 1 just after 4 p.m. Thursday, when she crossed the center line and entered the southbound lanes. She then swerved back to the northbound side of the road, but over corrected and lost control, the crash report states.
She ended up swerving across the southbound lanes and into the ditch on the other side of the road, where the car rolled. McNurlen was ejected from the vehicle and died.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
