Lynn Marie (Oberbroeckling) Greve
Cedar Rapids
The life of Lynn Marie (Oberbroeckling) Greve, 74, ended on March 25, 2025 in Plainfield, Illinois from Chronic Respiratory Disease. Her family has honored her request to have no service. She has been cremated and will be laid to rest with other family members at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. A mass of Celebration will be held at a later date.
Lynn was born on January 5, 1951 in Cedar Rapids, the eldest of five children of James J. and Carol J. (Burkes) Oberbroeckling. Lynn was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa but moved to Illinois in 2017 to be near her children and grandchildren. Lynn attended St. Matthew Elementary School and Regis High School before graduating from George Washington High School with the Class of 1969. She was married to her high school sweetheart Randolf Greve for 21 years. Together they raised three wonderful children. The marriage ended, but they remained in each other's lives and cared for and supported each other. Lynn was a homemaker for 21 years and with much pride and joy attended all of her children's sporting and cheerleading events. Later, she was the office administrator in the Cedar Rapids McDonald's Corporate office for 21 years.
The greatest joy in her life, besides her children, were her grandchildren. They were everything to her; they were perfect in her eyes and she was so very proud of each of them. Lynn was an enthusiastic sports fan. She loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, and considered herself to be the families' biggest Chicago Cubs fan. One of her greatest memories was seeing them finally win the World Series. She also enjoyed pro football. Lynn always looked forward to family cookouts, playing cards, especially euchre, watching her favorite television shows and having a glass of wine (or two) during movie night with her daughters.
Lynn is survived by her three children and their spouses: Shannon (Vic) Wildenradt of Plainfield, Illinois; Shawn (Makenzie) Greve of Zionsville, Indiana; and Shelby (Owen) Donaghey of Plainfield, Illinois, and her grandchildren: Chelsey and Jackson Shanklin, Alaina Wildenradt, Nate, Anna, Ryne, and Vanessa Greve, Charlie and Savannah Donaghey, and great-granddaughter Rhiannon. She is also survived by her brothers: Tim Oberbroeckling of Cedar Rapids, Todd (Samantha) Oberbroeckling of Grand Junction, Colorado, half-brother Rodney Oberbroeckling of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Richard Cooley of Cedar Rapids whom she loved like a brother. Also, her nieces, nephews, three cousins and her wonderful friends past and present.
Preceding her in death were her four grandparents; her parents; two aunts and two uncles; her sister and best friend Paula and her brother Chistopher.
