The Cedar Rapids Water Pollution Control Facility has added a pungent, increasingly intrusive odor to the “city of five smells” for all who live in the Marion and SE CR area. I have spent most of my life here and cannot recall this being an issue until the last few years. Waking up and heading outside is like walking into a septic tank on many days, and the smell doesn’t just stick to the outdoors, seeping into our homes coloring our lives in a most unpleasant way. There are many ways to deal with the waste waft from such plants, so what is being done to combat this disgusting issue that only seems to be getting worse?
