Surprise Visitors at Linn County 4-H Youth Council's Nov. 19 meeting

On Sunday, Nov. 19, the Linn County 4-H Youth Council had some very special visitors at their

November Family Event. Members invited their families to come and have FUN with games, making "Hand Cards" for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital, a yard-size Connect 4 game and a photo booth with many props for portrait pictures.

Before the Business meeting, there was a SURPRISE for everyone. Marlene Booth presented a check from Dennis Booth's Memorial fund for $2,100 for Denny's Dream.

Neva Lanning of Marion presented the 4-H Youth Council with a check for $20,000 for the new

Denny's Dream food stand.

Neva was accompanied by her sister-in-law, Shirley Lanning, and her niece, Lynn Westphal.

Neva said she has "wonderful memories" from her 4-H years. She stated that 4-H helped her be the person she is at 94 years young. There wasn't a dry eye in the room during this presentation.

4-H Youth Council members gave Neva 25 hugs and said "Thank you" for her wonderful donation to Denny's Dream! Neva truly believes in the 4-H Motto: "To Make the Best Better"!
