Julia Jessen, curator of collections and exhibitions at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art, has been awarded the Iowa Museum Association’s Rising Star Award for 2025. The award recognizes emerging professionals who have made significant contributions to the museum field in Iowa, demonstrating exceptional dedication to audience engagement and community outreach. Since joining the museum in July 2023, Jessen has played a vital role in broadening the museum’s audience through dynamic exhibitions, innovative programming, and meaningful community connections. The award will be presented during the Iowa Museum Association’s conference on April 29 at noon at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in Cedar Rapids. Networking: SCORE in-person round tables for networking and business skills development will be held Thursday in Cedar Rapids. The breakfast meeting will be from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Scott’s Family Restaurant, 1906 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE. The lunch meeting in Cedar Rapids will be at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Parlor City Pub & Eatery, 1125 Third St. SE in Cedar Rapids.
