Janet Mae Bickel, 79, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church in Marion, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment: Coggon Cemetery in Coggon, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Janet was born on April 24, 1945, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Martha (LeClere) Bickel. She was a 1963 graduate of Central City High School and went on to attend Business College in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a secretary for the Electrical Contractors Association for many years in Des Moines, St. Paul, and Schaumburg, Illinois, before her retirement. Janet enjoyed gardening, flowers, and watching her television programs. She especially loved spending time with family. Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Janet is survived and lovingly remembered by her five siblings, Henry (Annitta) Bickel of Marion, Clifford Bickel of Anamosa, Leonard Bickel of Cedar Rapids, Donna Bickel of Cedar Rapids, and Barbara (Dennis) Stevens of Highland, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Westphal of Fairbank, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brothers, Robert and Wayne Bickel; brother, Larry Bickel; sister, Marie Westphal; and two sisters-in-law, Judy Bickel and Clara Bickel.
