Eleanor Ray, 83, died Wednesday, March 19, 2025. There are no services at this time. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids, is caring for her family.
She is survived by her children, Sylvia and Frank; and grandchildren, Frank III, Shawndrea, DeMarcus, Maryah, Brandon, Adrian, and Adrinna.
Her parents and brother, Michael Edwards preceded her in death.
Eleanor Maurice was born to Robert Harrelson and Claudine McPike in Louisiana, Missouri on July 28, 1941. She worked in security and as a seamstress for Bobby Brooks before beginning her career at Collins Aerospace, from which she retired.
She was a great athlete especially excelling in softball, bowling, and basketball. Everyone wanted her on their team. She also enjoyed singing, bingo, card games, gambling and she was a wonderful cook. Eleanor was known for masterfully doing everybody’s hair.
