Janet Smith, 76, of Fairfax, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025, at her home.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, 11:00 am-1:00 pm, at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Monday, March 24, 2025, 3:00 pm, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Janet was born August 22, 1948, in Gowrie, Iowa to George and Ethel Light. She married Jack Smith on August 8, 1969, in Sterling, Illinois. During her life she drove school bus for Prairie and Cedar Rapids Schools, and worked and operated J&J Trucking with Jack. She was a dedicated home health care worker, who put her heart and soul into the care of her clientele. Janet especially loved spending time with family, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Cline of Cedar Rapids and LeAnne (Craig) Smith-Perry, of Urbana. A brother, Dean (Darlene) Light, sister in-law, Claudia. Grandchildren, Heather, Dakota (Lisa), Jeremy (Autumn), Courtney (Levi), Kelsey (Earl), Jordan, and Kara. Great-grandchildren, Hayden, Marlayna, Jack, Easton, Adilynn and Alayna. A stepdaughter, Kerrie Pettit, with many stepgrandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Jack D Smith, her parents, infant children, Larry Dean Smith and Cheryl Ann Light, granddaughters, Marrisa Cline and Krystin Smith-Troncoso, stepdaughter, Kelly Leduc, a sister, Karen Light and brothers, Frank and Walter Light.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Smith Family.
