Kerry J Sanders, 65, of Chicago, IL, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
Celebration of Life is Saturday, March 22, 2025, 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Lowe Park, Hickory Room, 4500 10th Street, Marion, Iowa.
Kerry is survived by his brothers, Dennis Sanders and Tracy Sanders; sister, Barbara Sanders Knox; and father, James C Sanders. He was preceded in death by his mother Rose Mary Sanders; and sister Catherine Sanders.
Kerry graduated from Washington High School, Cedar Rapids, in 1978. In 1982 he graduated from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, and from 1982-1983 he attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. Kerry worked in the theater, film and television industry as set designer and art director his whole adult life. His theater work includes many shows at Syracuse Stage in Syracuse NY and the one-woman show "Dragon and the Pearl" staring Valerie Harper at the Organic Theater in Chicago.
Films include “US Marshals,” “Return to Me,” “Road to Perdition,” “Stranger than Fiction,” “Fred Claus,” Public Enemies” and “Man of Steel” to name a few.Television shows include “The West Wing," “Prison Break,” “Empire” and “The Exorcist” along with single episodes on many other shows.
