Sharon Ann (Schaben) Booker, 80, of Iowa City passed away at Briarwood Health Care Center on March 12, 2025.
Sharon was born on July 28, 1944 in Carroll, IA to John and Henrietta (Vinke) Schaben. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School. She continued her education and earn a bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University and a master’s degree from Texas Tech University.
Sharon had a passion for her career in Healthcare Administration, working in California for many years before moving to Iowa City where she was Healthcare Administrator for The University of Iowa from 1995 until retiring in 2015.
She enjoyed being outdoors and reading. Sharon was also a member of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City.
She is survived by her son Matthew Booker of Iowa City, IA, two sisters Marcia (Ron) Simone of St. Charles, IL, and Roberta Kokenge of Carroll, IA, sister-in-law Sally Schaben of Phoenix, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, sister Janet Merritt, brother John Schaben, and brother-in-law Kenny Kokenge and Robert Merritt
Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated, and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Iowa City Hospice or Heifer International.
