Suzanne Marie (Stavnes) Jones, age 75, of Osprey, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital from complications following a stroke.
Visitation is March 19 from 10:00-11:00 am at Toale Brothers Funeral Home in Venice. A funeral mass will follow at 12:00 pm, March 19 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Osprey. Burial is the next day, March 20,1:30 pm, at Sarasota National Cemetery.
Suzanne was born December 18, 1949, to John and Clara Mae (Sheehy) Stavnes in Decorah, Iowa. “Suzie” spent her early years growing up on a dairy farm in rural Winneshiek County, Iowa and graduated from Postville High School Class of 1968. She attended Medical Secretarial School in Winona, Minnesota, launching her very successful lifelong career as a medical transcriptionist in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and later in Florida.
On May 4, 1991, Suzanne married Robert C. Jones in Marion, Iowa. For many years they resided in Hiawatha before retiring full-time to Florida in 2019.
Suzanne is survived by her husband Bob, her daughters Rachel (Eric) Savage, Tiffany (Neil) Fitzgerald, and her stepchildren Rob (Lisa) Jones and Brenda (Doug) Nejdl. She is also survived by three grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren and her siblings John (Mary) Stavnes, Jeff (Janis) Stavnes, Patricia Chechak, Robert Stavnes and Tim (Susan) Stavnes.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, her very special cousin Craig and his wife Judy Stavnes and many more cousins and dear friends.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Rose Marie, her grandparents, in-laws and many aunts and uncles.
