Gordon Barger, son of the late Kenneth and Evelyne Barger, died Friday, February 28 in Cedar Rapids.
Gordon is survived by siblings Mary, Kendy, Kevin (Deb), Mark (Lydia), Sara and Amy (Nelson).
He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy and leaves behind her sister Dawn and stepchildren Tanya (Ray) and Kenyon (Monica).
Gordon is survived by children Travis, Jonah, Molly and Mandy, as well as grandchildren Obree, Despree, Devan, Morgan, Brandon, Cameron, Brooklyn, Rondell, Allison, Robert, Bethany and Joshua. Gordon also leaves many nieces and nephews which include Alan, who was holding his hand when he died. Gordon is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews. Gordon and Peggy’s precious pooch Zoey has been adopted by her Uncle Kevin and Aunt Deb.
Gordon made many wry jokes in his life, but a family favorite is telling people he lived so close to the car wash he could walk there.
Join his family and friends as we share our stories about this quiet, stubborn, handsome guy we called son, brother, husband, dad, stepdad, uncle, grandpa and probably other things that won’t be mentioned here!
Celebration of Life will be held on March 22 at Parlor City, 1125 Third Street SE, in the Five Seasons Room from 2pm-4pm. Cremation was conducted by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
