Steven Ray George, 73, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, March 6, 2025. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Steven was born on July 14, 1951, in Cedar Rapids, to Frank and Lela (Kennedy) George. At a very young age, he served honorably in United States Army during the Vietnam War. On February 12, 1978, he married Christine Joanne DeVilder in Cedar Rapids.
Steven worked as a machine operator for Cryovac. He was a dedicated fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Steven loved golfing and achieved a proud milestone when he hit a hole-in-one on hole #15 at Jones Park in 2005. He also loved fishing, cherishing time with family and friends, and was a dog lover who found joy in life’s simple pleasures. A true gearhead, Steven enjoyed maintaining his vehicles and motorcycles, always taking pride in keeping them in top condition. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Christine “Sela” George of Cedar Rapids; children, Travis George and Dallas (Charlotte) George, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Zander, Sophia, Nyle, Vivian, and Mackzen Ray; sister, Sandy (Duane) Stepanek; and his precious dog, Hannah.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Larry George and Gary George.
