CEDAR RAPIDS — With highs forecast in the 60s and 70s, the trails will be open for walkers on Mount Trashmore for three days this week.
The walking trails will be upon from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday because of the unseasonably warm weather, according to the Cedar Rapids Linn County Solid Waste Authority, which operates the former landfill in southwest Cedar Rapids. Users must check in at the Recreation Building beforehand.
The downhill bike trail remains closed due to wet conditions.
Mount Trashmore, 2250 A St. SW, opens for the season April 1, if weather permits. Its normal hours during the season are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday — Friday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and closed Monday.
The National Weather Service predicts the highs in Cedar Rapids will be 63 degrees Wednesday, 69 degrees Thursday and 76 degrees Friday. Sun is predicted Wednesday and Thursday and much of Friday. But it’ll be breezy Friday with a chance of rain after 1 p.m., which becomes much more likely Friday night, according to the weather service.
