Constance “Connie Girl” Shears, 79, of Atkins, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2025, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will begin 9:00 am-11:00 am at The Chapel. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Larry Shears, daughter, Angela (Doug) Klosterman, son, Bradley J. (Jessi) Shears, along with grandchildren Jacob Johnson, Jes Johnson, Zachary Klosterman, Allison Klosterman, Cameron Shears and Jorja Allen; great-grandchildren, Libby Sue and Rhett, and a brother, Charles Book.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy, parents, and a brother, Gary.
Connie (Sparks) Shears was born October 17, 1945, in Cedar Rapids to Harlan and JoAnn Sparks. She graduated from Norway High School in 1964. Connie worked at Benton Community Schools as a custodian for 10 years. Connie was known as “Mom”, loved baking pies and cookies, she loved flowers, birdwatching, and cheering for the Hawkeyes. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Atkins Fire Department/ First Responders.
