Judy Ann Lympus, 82, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at her home. Services: 11 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2025 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, by Pastor Trish Decker. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, March 2, 2025 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home, and on Monday at the church after 10 a.m.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 61 years; Jon, sons; Randall Lympus, Rodney Lympus, and Jonny (Tiffany) Lympus, all of Cedar Rapids, and Russell (Heather) Lympus of Marion, grandchildren; Brittney (Jake), Sydney, Isaac, Avery, Ellie, Lidia, Rickey and Jess, great-grandchildren; Brady and Maddyn, brother; Donnie (Connie) Peters and great-nephew and -niece; Jack and Ava.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claus and Belle Peters; brothers, Melvin, Lyle and Howard Peters; and sisters, Donna Mae Peters, Velma Arnette, Eunice Crosser, Sharon O’Neal and Wanda Martin.
Judy was born on June 12, 1942, in Terril, the daughter of Claus and Belle Jansen Peters. After graduating from Sac City, she relocated to Cedar Rapids to live with friends and sisters. On April 6, 1963, she married her first and only love, Jon Lympus at the Little Brown Church. Judy had a long and successful career with Quaker Oats, Rockwell Collins, Daycare, and as an independent accountant for multiple local businesses, to include in her early professional years doing the books at Dows Dairy while her husband delivered the milk to residents throughout the metro.
Judy cherished and adored time with good friends and family. She enjoyed playing cards, crosswords, classic westerns, casino trips with her siblings and was the game show queen. Judy loved supporting all her friends and family activities and was also an avid fan of Iowa women’s and men’s basketball and never missed a Caitlin Clark or Cubs game. Judy adored all her grandkids and was a strong lady of faith and devoted member of Gloria Dei.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
