Carolyn Marie Epp
Carolyn Marie Epp
Cedar Rapids
Carolyn Epp passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter, Karen Carpenter, on January 12, 2025.
Carolyn was born April 3, 1942, on a small farm in Shelby, Iowa to Chris and Ella (Sindt) Berg. As the only girl, with three older brothers, farm life was both hard work and an adventure. After graduating high school, Carolyn set out for Omaha and began her career as a radiation therapist. She met her husband there, and she and Richard Epp were married in Shelby on June 8, 1962.
Richard’s job kept them moving, and after living in three different states, having a child in each one, they settled in Cedar Rapids in 1970. She worked for decades at the Hall Radiation Center as it was then known. She was also a small business owner of two Baskin-Robbins stores in Cedar Rapids.
Carolyn was an avid gardener, spending summers outside and winters planning. Her yard was admired by friends and passersby. She loved to travel with family and friends, roaming across North America and Europe.
Carolyn was hard working, fun loving and a great mother. She made a positive difference in the lives of family, friends and patients and will be greatly missed.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Julie Epp, Lisa Epp and Karen (David) Carpenter; granddaughter Ella Epp; and brothers Kenneth, Donald and Mel Berg. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard.
