Mark Rutan, 71, of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Mark William Rutan was born on June 21, 1953, in Anamosa, the son of Ted and Shirley (Hopkins) Rutan. He attended school in Anamosa and graduated from Anamosa High School in 1970. He served his country in the United States Navy and earned an honorable discharge in 1975.
He was employed in industrial maintenance at United Technologies. He enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, camping, travelling in his camper, and most everything that had to do with automobiles, and loved to spend time with his family.
He is remembered by his significant other Lonnie Wood, his sons Alan (Heather), Michael, and Kevin (Jaime), grandchildren Emerson, Eden, Elliotte, and Archer, and brothers Brian and Barry (Audrey). He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Steve.
The family will greet friends from 9 am to 12 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Anamosa, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy and the Anamosa Veterans Honor Guard.
