Donna Jean Berrier, 81, of Swisher, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Colonial Manor in Amana, Iowa.
She was born on August 23, 1943, to the late Robert and LaRue (Moore) Jacobs. After graduating from Sigourney High School, Donna moved to Cedar Rapids to attend Cedar Rapids Business College, where she studied accounting. She began her career at Weyerhaeuser, where she met Ron, who would become her husband of 60 years.
After their marriage, Donna chose to leave the workforce to stay home and raise their three children. Once her children were grown, she returned to work at Cedarapids Inc., and later at Batteries Included in Swisher. In retirement, she devoted more time to her passions: gardening and sewing. Above all, Donna cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children: Stacey Berrier of Cedar Rapids, Stephanie (Alex) Elzein of St. Louis, and Stephen Berrier of Iowa City; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard (Carol) Jacobs of Pace, Florida; her brother-in-law, Russell Parker of Washington, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Delores Jacobs of Maquoketa, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron; four brothers, Robert, Frank “Sonny,” James “Bill,” and Alan; and two sisters-in-law, Donna Parker and Evelyn Jacobs.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, on Friday, February 28, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM.
A private family burial will take place at a later time.
