Bonnie Lou Hansen, age 80, of Fairfax, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wed, Feb. 12. A visitation will be held at First Open Bible Church at 1911 E Ave., Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with a lunch served in the Fellowship Hall at the church. Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at the Marengo cemetery following the luncheon.
Bonnie was born June 8, 1944 in Watkins, Iowa, the daughter of Ervin and Marcella Kimm. She graduated from Norway High School in 1962. She attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, and in 1966 received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. She taught for many years at various school districts in and around the Cedar Rapids area. Later she attended the University of Iowa and completed a Masters of Arts program in Counseling and Human Behavior in 1989. She worked at Kirkwood Community College in the counseling department for 24 years.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Charles Roe in 1966. From this union 3 wonderful sons were born. They later divorced. In 1992 she married Eldon Hansen. Eldon and Bonnie spent their years together on an acreage in Fairfax, Iowa.
Bonnie cherished spending her time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed horse back riding, walking, pickleball, biking, kayaking, painting and reading the Bible. She highly valued her faith and belief in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Eldon Hansen, her children, Jeff (Camille) Roe, Scott (Karen) Roe, Tony (Sheila) Roe, step daughter Jackie Hansen; 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brother Derald (Jan) Kimm and many nieces and nephews.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Marcella Kimm and 2 nephews Brent Kimm and Barry Kimm.
She was a wonderful, caring mother, wife and friend and will be missed dearly by all.
