Hattie M. Ware, 72, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Private family services will be at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre will be assisting the family at this time.
Hattie Mae was born on March 31, 1952, in Muncie, Indiana, the daughter of Henry and Katie Mae (Lott) Harris. She then married Edward “Pip” William Ware Jr. on June 7, 1980, in Cedar Rapids. She worked in customer service at MCI, First Data Corporation, for many years until her retirement. Hattie enjoyed playing bingo, occasionally visiting Meskwaki Casino, and most of all spending time with friends and family.
Hattie is survived by her children, Edward LaVel Ellis Jr., Tea Ware and Joel Ware; grandchildren, Asia, Kichuan, Keimaiya, Keila, Mateyo, Julani and Macyn; great-grandchildren I’yonna and Nazir; her brother Wayne (Dora) Harris and a sister Ruth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Edward “Pip” Ware Jr.; her brother William Harris and a sister Arzella Harris.
Memorials may be made to the Ware Grandchildren Education Fund.
