What to know: A five-game win streak has moved Iowa into a four-team tie for ninth place in the Big Ten. The top nine teams avoid playing in the opening round of the conference tournament.
Meanwhile, Rutgers is part of a five-team pack at the bottom of the league. Three of those teams will not qualify for the Big Ten tournament.
The Hawkeyes have won five straight in the series, and 13 of the last 14. They reached triple digits in each of the last two meetings, including 103-69 last year in New Jersey.
During the win streak, Iowa’s Lucy Olsen is averaging 22.0 points per game. Her five-game field-goal percentage (41 of 75, .547) and her 3-point accuracy (10 of 21, .476) both are significantly higher than her career numbers (.419 and .313, respectively).
In the last six games, Iowa is scoring 19.2 points in the first quarter and allowing just 11.3. Three of those opponents (Oregon, USC and Minnesota) did not reach double digits by the end of the first period.
Rutgers has a good scoring tandem in Kiyomi McMiller (5-8, fr., 18.7 ppg) and Destiny Adams (6-3, sr., 17.9 ppg).
