Martha Rae Holmes, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Corridor Crossing Place. Services: 11 a.m., Monday, February 10, 2025, Teahen Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.
Martha is survived by her son, Brian (Kathy) Holmes; daughter, Connie (Jeff) Palmer, both of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Cody, Sara; step-grandchildren, Eric, Daryl and Tori; 4 beautiful step-great-granddaughters; sister, Bernadine Hoyt; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and brother, John Rammelsberg, Jr.
Martha was born on September 6, 1937, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Bernice Hamilton Rammelsberg. She graduated in 1954 from Palo High School. On July 28, 1956, Martha married John Holmes at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked for many years for Rockwell Collins and the Norand Corporation.
Martha enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling to Hayward, WI, and Lake Michigan. However, at heart, she was a homebody who loved spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Martha’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Corridor Crossing for the exceptional care they provided.
