J. Duane Glime, 76, of Newhall, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

Duane was born on August 25, 1948 to Fay and Mildred (Scott) Glime. He graduated from Benton Community High School with the Class of 1966. He attended Iowa State University graduating with a degree in Agriculture. He was united in marriage to Kathy Fottral Erceg on December 17, 1988 in Newhall, and became a dad to her two kids.

Duane grew up on the farm where he had the joy of farming with his father. Duane farmed his entire life until retiring a few years ago. He also owned and operated Corn-Fusion popcorn store, where he loved working with his family, and making our corner of the world a little sweeter. He enjoyed shooting archery, woodworking, and fishing. He loved traveling, especially to South Dakota to the Black Hills, Custer State Park, and the Badlands. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family as much as we enjoyed spending time with him.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Glime of Newhall; children, Katie (Nick) Landherr of Marion, Melissa (Johnie) Blanchett of Van Horne, and John Erceg of Cedar Rapids; grandkids, Ellie Landherr, Johnie Blanchett, Justin Blanchett, Brandi (Joel) Revoir, Jacob Blanchett, and Blake Erceg; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Alex Revoir; siblings, Ronald (Karrol) Glime and Russell (Barb) Glime; sister-in-law, Rosalie Glime, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert Glime and Patricia Sheldon.
